Community Healthcare Assistant
The aim of this QQI Level 5 programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and competence to work under supervision in a range of community health service settings or to progress to further and/or higher education and training.
|The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to communicate verbally and non-verbally in standard everyday tasks and in work-related tasks, operating independently while under general direction.|
|The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to participate in the workplace for a limited time, carrying out work-related tasks independently while under general direction.|

|The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to meet the full range of needs of older people in a variety of care settings.|
|The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the nutritional composition of food and the effects of food and nutrition on an individual’s health and personal wellbeing|
|This programme module aims to provide a learner with the personal knowledge, skills and competence to work effectively in a care setting. It aims to promote good practice and respect for diversity in lifestyle, religion and culture in care work|
|Infection Prevention and Control||5N3734|
|This programme module aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to prevent and/or manage outbreaks of infection and to recognize their role in the prevention of infection in a health care setting.|
|Human Growth and Development||5N1279|
|The award is designed for learners who intend to work in a variety of community/social care settings where frequent demand is made on the individual to relate to people at various levels of personal development The module aims to introduce the learner to human growth and development from infancy to old age in order that the learner will be equipped to relate to people at a level appropriate to their needs.|
|The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to use a word processing application to produce documents in a variety of contexts to a mailable or publishable standard whilst working autonomously and under general direction.|
|Occupational First Aid||5N1207|
|The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to provide and co-ordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and the associated Guide to these Regulations.|
QQI Level 5 certificate in Health Service Skills (5M3782)
Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI Level 4. For mature candidates (21+), experience will be considered in lieu of academic qualifications.
Note: This course requires participants to be Garda vetted. Continued participation on the course and work placement is dependent on the successful completion of this process

There has been a rapid growth in the employment opportunities for holders of a QQI Level 5 full award in Community Health Services with the development of community-based care. The College has developed links with care organisations who will come to speak to course participants about employment opportunities in the area.
